2016 Season Impact Report

THE IDEA VILLAGE

Advance the movement:

LOOKING BACK
TO MOVE FORWARD.

The Idea Village celebrated some significant milestones in 2016, making it a banner year. We allocated more than $1.8 million in capital, consulting, and resources to 143 entrepreneurs; our alumni founders surpassed $100 million in private capital investments and grew their businesses to support more than 2,900 local jobs; and New Orleans Entrepreneur Week (NOEW), presented by IBERIABANK, grew in attendance by 25%.

All of this success is thanks to our supporters — our board, our advisors, our donors, our partners, our entrepreneurs, our alumni, our staff, and you. This is our village, and we’re grateful that you’re a part of it. I’m proud of the work we’ve done together, and I’m thankful for your role in making it possible. I especially want to recognize the leadership and support of the IV100, a group of forward-thinking corporations, foundations, and individuals who are committed to our mission and provide critical core funding. Together, we have helped thousands of local businesses get off the ground, solidifying entrepreneurship as a critical part of New Orleans’ culture — but our work is not yet complete. We must work harder, stand stronger, and push the envelope further.

The Idea Village is committed to advancing New Orleans’ entrepreneurial movement by delivering world-class expertise and resources to local start-ups, investing in the diverse people and unique sectors critical to our community, and strengthening our ecosystem by cultivating an expanded, inclusive, and collaborative network. Please explore and share this interactive report to learn more about our community and to reflect on the progress we’ve made together. We hope you’ll be inspired to invite others to join our village so we can all build a better New Orleans for generations to come.

Emily Madero, Acting CEO
